Vinyl Vault - Squire / Beat Direction – Does Stephanie Know (Ska-Au-Go-Go) FLEXI
Released in 1985, this rare flexidisc was created to promote Squire and Beat Direction through the mod fanzine network. Pressed in a limited run of 2,000 by Lyntone, one of the last companies producing flexidiscs, it was distributed for free with fanzines like Wha-a-m! in San Francisco and In The Crowd in the UK.
This single-sided 33 1/3 rpm disc became an instant collector’s item, giving fans a chance to hear bands they wouldn’t find on mainstream radio or in regular record shops. It features Squire’s Does Stephanie Know and Beat Direction’s Ska-Au-Go Go, a brilliant blend of Squire's powerpop and Beat Direction's mod ska influences.
A true piece of mod history, this release was part of a groundbreaking idea to connect directly with fans—and it worked. These flexidiscs are extremely rare, but we’ve found a few for sale. Don’t miss out!
